Massage for Seniors – Sep 2017

As a Seniors Wellness Practitioner my training focused on the needs of seniors and the many issues specific to people as they get older. There is no magic birthday number when physical issues all of a sudden start happening, we notice them creeping up on us a little at a time. Probably the most important benefit of massage is how it increases circulation. Even if you are not yet a ‘senior’ you’re on your way and by improving your circulation you may be able to ward off some of these issues.

As we age, circulation becomes more difficult, we are often much less active. Smoking and poor diet (typified by high sugar, trans fats and alcohol intake) also contribute to different conditions that affect blood flow. The impact of poor circulation means your organs are not getting adequate nutrients and oxygen to allow them to function properly. Your arms and hands, legs and feet won’t be receiving enough blood either. Poor blood circulation can then lead to numerous other problems including organ damage, high blood pressure, strokes, vertigo, blood clots, numbness, muscle cramps, varicose veins and more. Massage increases the flow of blood to the limbs, heart and all parts of the body. If you are already experiencing any of these issues why not see how massage can help. Massage provides an abundance of benefits for both mind and body. You’ll not only have better circulation you will get to enjoy how wonderful it feels, how relaxing it is, and how it can help you sleep better. Chair massage is easy and convenient as there is no need to remove clothing or climb onto a massage table.
