We often hear how improved blood and lymph circulation is so important for us, but what does it really mean? We know blood circulates through our body providing nutrients to all the cells, it carries waste products away from the cells, it carries oxygen from the lungs to the cells for energy; and carries carbon dioxide from the cells to the lungs for excretion. Blood circulation performs various other functions as well. Similar to the way your blood circulatory system delivers nutrients and oxygen to all cells of the body, the lymphatic system is a complex network of vessels that branch through all parts of the body to circulate important bodily fluid and defend against infection. When functioning well, the lymphatic system helps keep the body’s needs in balance, but when things go wrong, disorders and cancer can result. Massage increases and improves circulation, it improves lymphatic drainage which helps in the removal of waste products and toxins and enhances immunity. This is another great reason for getting regular massages!
